The Hindu Business Line : Pay-scales revised for AP power staff

PAY-SCALES of power sector employees in Andhra Pradesh have been revised on Thursday. The revision is retrospectively effective from April 1, 2002. However, the increased salaries will be paid from the month of August, payable in September.

The revision will place an additional financial burden of Rs 192 crore per annum on the Transmission Corporation, the Generation Corporation and the four Distribution Corporations of Andhra Pradesh.

In the light of the increase in pay-scales, APTransco Chairperson and Managing Director, Ms Rachel Chatterjee, appealed to the employees to ensure a significant increase in the power sector's performance. "Any non-performance by the employees will not be tolerated", she warned.

Over 57,000 employees of the APTransco, AP Generation Corporation (APGenco) and Distribution Companies (discoms) and pensioners would be benefited by the hike to come into effect from April this year, she said.
