Karnataka Assembly validates BDA move

BANGALORE: The Karnataka Assembly on Thursday passed a Bill validating the Bangalore Development Authority's right to collect property taxes from 1976, despite a Supreme Court judgment to the contrary.

The Government has collected nearly Rs 17 crore from citizens in the form of property tax under a notification from 1976 to 1993.
