Off-shore Development Corporate - Alliances & Joint Ventures Satyam to set up overseas centre for Saint Gobain arm Our Bureau
HYDERABAD, Aug. 9 SATYAM Computer Services Ltd has announced that it has signed up with Saint Gobain Abrasives, Inc, a Massachusetts-based corporation, to provide IT services. As part of this initiative, it will set up an offshore development centre (ODC) for Saint Gobain in Bangalore. Mr D. Subu, Satyam's Senior Vice-President , said, ``the breakthrough with Saint Gobain Abrasives is another impressive demonstration of the confidence of large companies in Satyam's expertise. We take great pride in becoming associated with such an outstanding worldwide organisation.'' The Vice-President of Information Systems for Saint Gobain, Mr William Schlageter, said, "We have been impressed with Satyam and made our decision based on the quality of their people, processes and infrastructure. We look forward to working with them.'' Satyam's manufacturing vertical is one of the largest business units providing end-to-end IT solutions to global customers in the manufacturing domain. The unit currently provides a complete range of IT solutions from enterprise solutions, application outsourcing, infrastructure support for several Fortune 500 companies, including DuPont and Unilever. The centre will develop reports, interface conversions, enhancements and forms (RICEF objects) for the global SAP project required as a part of the first task order, according to a company communiqué. A subsidiary of the global major Saint-Gobain, Paris, Saint Gobain Abrasives, is the world's largest manufacturer of abrasives and the only international manufacturer to offer full complement of abrasives products to customers worldwide. The business has over 16,600 employees and about 100 manufacturing facilities in 25 countries.
