Ex-bureaucrat gets human rights award

BANGALORE: Mr Harsh Mander, former Gujarat bureaucrat, has been presented with the M.A.Thomas National Human Rights Award 2002. He quit the IAS in protest in the wake of the Gujarat carnage, drawing national attention to the tragedy. The award is given annually by Vigil India Movement and is named after its founder.
