Rubber Rubber inactive Our Correspondent
KOTTAYAM, Aug. 5 THE rubber market generally appeared inactive as stagnation continued in all grades except for a marginal increase in the price of RSS-4. Buyers were absent though the market had plenty of rubber from growers and local traders operating in interior marketing centres. Meanwhile, a few players were procuring rubber directly from village markets. This resulted in stagnation often creating dullness in the market. The southwest monsoon has been active on Saturday and Sunday and rainfall occurred at most places in the rubber growing regions in the State. The growers have again begun to withhold stocks on the hope that the prices would go up. The international situation also slightly improved as the prices touched Rs 38.28 from Rs 38.08 on Saturday. The market will remain closed on tomorrow due to a nation-wide hartal. Sheet rubber RSS-4 as traded at Rs 37 from Rs 36.50 a kg on Saturday and RSS-5 remained flat at Rs 34. Block rubber ISNR 20 was steady at Rs 33.50 while latex 60 per cent and ungraded rubber were static at Rs 30 and Rs 33 respectively.
