Letters Value-added egg products
Falling prices and low demand for table eggs have forced the Tamil Nadu poultry farmers to apply production control mechanisms to restrict egg supply in the market and stabilise prices (Business Line, August 3). This is understandable. At the same time, action needs be taken to initiate research in making value-added food products from eggs that will have good shelf-life and fetch better prices. Export possibilities could also be explored. The Government should take the initiative in this regard. A. Jacob Sahayam
