Default notices to 69 foreign cos

NEW DELHI, Aug 2

THE Central Government had received applications from more than 100 foreign companies seeking condonation of delays in filing of statutory papers during the financial year 2001-02.

Default notices have been issued to 69 foreign companies by the Registrar of Companies. Further, the Department of Company Affairs has requested the Reserve Bank of India to inform the RoC as and when approvals for opening of officers/liaison offices by foreign companies are issued by it.

The total number of cases with the Monopolies & Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) during the beginning of 2001 was 5,066. The number of cases registered by MRTPC during 2001 was 436.
