Our Bureau

KOLKATA: CESC Ltd, the power company in the RPG fold, has been able to pare its first-quarter losses from Rs 40 crore to Rs 13 crore mainly on account of the tariff award granted by the Calcutta High Court.

While announcing the results, the CESC management said that since the order has been challenged in the Supreme Court the results declared are provisional subject to the Apex Court's verdict. Net sales for the company, which started billing its consumers at a higher rate from June, is higher at Rs 550 crore (Rs 500 crore) while power purchase cost was lower at Rs 96 crore (Rs 108 crore). Depreciation stood at Rs 80 crore (Rs 78 crore), while interest payouts were Rs 3 crore lower at Rs 105 crore.
