To the point

The editorial, `Shadow fight' (Business Line, July 26) rightly, precisely and incisively focusses on the issue, rather than beating around the bush.

The fact that much of the deviation is technically legal and well within the framework of the accounting standards, highlights the leeway rather than the violations.

The immediate requirement is then, to expand/alter the disclosure norms and bring the Accounting Standards closer to International Accounting Standards (rather than US Gaap).

There can be no truer opinion regarding the futility of the Regulatory Body (ICAI) to run after red herrings.
