NEW DELHI, July 22 TENCEL Ltd, a member of the Acordis group, is hopeful that the consumption of Tencel fibres in the country would double from its current levels during the calendar year 2003. Tencel is Acordis' brand name for iyocell, which is a cellulosic fibre made from wood. "During the current year, the consumption level of Tencel will be about 500 tonnes. We hope to take this to a level of 1,000 tonnes next year,'' Mr Prem Sadhwani, Country Manager, Tencel Ltd, told Business Line here. Besides existing arrangements with brands such as Allen Solly, he held that new initiatives like `Tencel Khadi' would help enhance consumption of Tencel fibres during 2003.
