Rating auditors

This refers to the news item `Rating of auditors on the anvil' (Business Line, July 18). Ratings may not prove helpful considering that some of the most well-known and trusted auditors were at fault.

The mandatory rotation of auditors should also be extended to the private sector. Moreover, it is essential to blacklist any audit firm that may be found derelict in their duties.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India can also play an important role in regulating them.
