Software Emazines offers EziFonts for regional languages V. Rishi Kumar
HYDERABAD, July 9 EMAZINES Software, a Hyderabad-based software solutions start-up, has developed EziFonts, a desktop publishing tool designed for regional languages which incorporates a spell-check engine. The Managing Director of Emazines Software, Mr C. Prasanth, told Business Line that the company's EziFonts package offers users the entire gamut of word processing functionality along with host of attractive fonts. The company plans to launch more versions that support several Indian languages. The company claims that this is first such package which supports a spell-check engine in a regional language. The initial Telugu version includes 40 original and aesthetic fonts and Emazines extends a host of free downloads including newly developed fonts as well as technical support. "With the increasing thrust on adopting information technology for various applications in India, the use of Indian languages on computers has acquired a new dimension. These applications involve conventional and web publishing, web sites and online communication. The EziFonts has been developed to provide an Indian language interface which will give the user community edge,'' Mr.Krishna Reddy, Executive Director, Emazines, said. "With the innovative development of EziFonts, we have fully transitioned from a services company to product development. We are targeting EziFonts at the desk-top publishing (DTP) segment, regional language book publishing and related ancillary sectors where we expect the tool to provide considerable performance enhancement and significant cost efficiencies,'' Mr Prashanth said. "The company is in the process of launching similar products in other Indian languages including Hindi and Bengali. Though we have iLeap and Sreelipi, our product is more versatile as it features a spell-check engine,'' he said. With the launch of the Telugu version of EziFonts, the DTP operators and agencies will find this an attractive proposition as it features range of fonts making their job enjoyable. This will help generate work in regional languages, he added.
