Corporate Disputes Marketing - Advertising Court directs Pepsi to stop airing Lehar Soda ad Ratna Bhushan
NEW DELHI, July 8 PEPSI Foods Ltd has been directed to stop airing the ad for Lehar Soda by the Court of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate in Bhadrak, in Orissa. The Lehar Soda film, which broke on Television in May, spoofs Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen, both of whom endorse rival Coca-Cola India's Thums Up commercial. According to sources, a complaint was filed by one Mr Gobardhan Nayak on behalf of Salman Khan's fan club, claiming that the ad has tarnished the image of the actor. Apart from spoofing the celebrities, the Lehar Soda film shows a situation where crow dropping falls into a soft drink (Grow Up tonic), an obvious reference to Thums Up. Summons have been issued to the Pepsi Foods top brass on the same.
