Performance Tata Engg posts 31.3 pc rise in June sales Our Bureau
MUMBAI, July 8 TATA Engineering today reported a 31.3 per cent rise in domestic vehicle sales for June 2002 to 16,853 units as against 12,833 units of the previous corresponding period. Sales for the first quarter of 2002-2003 stood at 38,961 units, up 17.4 per cent from the year ago level of 33,191 units. According to an official statement, sales of commercial vehicles in June 2002 registered a rise of 27 per cent to 7,700 units. The first quarter sale of commercial vehicles increased to 21,376 units as against the previous corresponding 14,694 units, a growth of 45.6 per cent. Sales of Indica grew by 48 per cent in June 2002 to 7,056 units. Its first quarter sales totalled 11,905 units. On the other hand, sales of utility vehicles rose by 4 per cent in June 2002 to 2,097 units while for the first quarter its total sales stood at 5,684 units. The passenger car business notched total sales of 9,154 units in June 2002, a growth of 35 per cent. First quarter sales touched 17,590 units, with a corresponding share of 11.5 per cent in the market for passenger vehicles, the statement said.
