Cement ACC production, despatches up Our Bureau
MUMBAI, July 2 ACC has reported an increase of 11.05 per cent in cement despatches, month on corresponding month, during June. Despatches increased to 11.55 lakh tonnes from 10.4 lakh tonnes reported in June 2001. Production increased 10.73 per cent to 11.35 lakh tonnes from 10.25 lakh tonnes. Cumulative despatches for the period April to June 2002 increased 19.2 per cent to 36.38 lakh tonnes from 30.5 lakh tonnes. Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd reported a 21-per cent increase in despatches during June to 6.89 lakh tonnes (5.71 lakh tonnes). Production increased 20 per cent to 6.74 lakh tonnes (5.61 lakh tonnes). However, its subsidiaries Ambuja Cement Eastern and Ambuja Cement Rajasthan reported negative growth in despatches. Despatches from Ambuja Cement Eastern declined 10 per cent in June, month on month and despatches from Gujarat Cement Rajasthan declined 9 per cent. Cement despatches for the Ambuja group as a whole, therefore, showed a growth of 11 per cent during the month. Gujarat Ambuja Cements has reported an 18 per cent growth in cumulative despatches for the period July 2001 to June 2002. Despatches grew from 61.18 lakh tonnes the previous year to 71.97 lakh tonnes. Group despatches grew 13 per cent to 99.09 lakh tonnes (87.99 lakh tonnes).
