Bhoomi project shortlisted

BANGALORE: The State Government's e-governance project Bhoomi which plans to computerise 20 million land records in the State is among 101 IT projects shortlisted for the Stockholm challenge 2002 award, in Sweden.

The awards are given to outstanding IT projects in health, e-governance, e-business, culture, environment and educations. The Karnataka Revenue Department's Bhoomi is among the 11 finalists from India. Bhoomi helps 6.7 million farmers across Karnataka to get a copy of the record of rights or the tenancy and crops document, needed for availing of bank loans.
