Anti-dumping Dumping duty on BOPP film imports mooted K.R. Srivats
NEW DELHI, July 2 THE Designated Authority in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recommended the imposition of definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Oman, Singapore and Thailand. BOPP film is primarily used by the packaging industry. It is used mainly in packaging, adhesive tapes, capacitors, synthetic paper, lamination and cigarette wrapping. The petition seeking anti-dumping investigation was filed by the BOPP Film Producers' Association, New Delhi, on behalf of the domestic industry. Industry sources said the authority had recommended certain specific definitive anti-dumping duty on all exporters of BOPP film from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. However, in the case of Oman, no definitive anti-dumping duty had been recommended on exports of BOPP film by Al Khaleej of Oman as they had given a "price undertaking'', they said.
