Justice Dept to be networked

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, June 26

THE Department of Justice has taken up computerised networking of the Department with the Supreme Court, all High Courts and Law Departments of the State Governments at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.

This will enable the Department to get online access to detailed data relating to pendency of cases maintained by the High Courts and the Supreme Court.

Besides, up-to-date data relating to vacancies of posts of judges will become available online, an official release said. At present, this data is obtained through various reports, which have to be re-entered into the computers for preparation of periodic reports relating to monitoring of pendency of cases.
