SEBI board discusses First Global

Our Bureau

MUMBAI, June 24

THE board of SEBI on Monday heard the case of Mr Shankar Sharma's stock broking firm First Global and asked the firm to give a written submission to the board.

Addressing reporters after the board meeting here, the SEBI Chairman, Mr G.N. Bajpai, said "the board discussed the First Global matter. But no decision has been taken as yet''.

The board had heard the case of First Global earlier in May.

The broking firm, along with its directors Mr Sharma and Ms Devina Mehra, was debarred from dealing in securities in April 2001.

On the Bhagwati Committee recommendations on Takeover Code, Mr Bajpai said "No discussion was held or decision was taken by the SEBI board today''.
