Bangalore water management project launched

BANGALORE, June 21

PROJECT Agastya, an initiative for sustainable water resources management, has been launched in Bangalore.

Promoted by 25/Bangalore Foundation and incubated by United Nations Industrial Development Organisation — International Centre for Advancement of Manufacturing Technology, the project aims to develop, initiate and implement a sustainable programme for better and more efficient water resources management in the city, said the Chairman and UNIDO Advisor, Mr Vasanth Kumar.

The forum is to act as a discussion-cum-working group to address the problems faced by consumers of water resources. According to Mr Rajeev Kumar, CEO, Project Agastya, and General Secretary, 25/Bangalore Foundation, the forum plans to conduct detailed studies on water resources situation in Bangalore."We will undertake primary studies of the industrial and domestic domains, secondary studies with the assistance of stakeholders such as Government departments, civic bodies, NGOs, corporates etc.''

In the next couple of months, Project Agastya will launch a clean technology campaign for water in partnership with bilateral agencies from France, US, UK, Australia and Switzerland, according to Mr Vasanth Kumar.
