NEW DELHI, June 20

THE Central Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has made it mandatory for all members in practice to undertake continuing professional education (CPE) from January 1 next.

"All members who are in practice are required to undertake a minimum of six CPE hours per calendar year and 25 CPE hours in a block of three years'', the ICAI said in a statement here on Wednesday.

However, the CPE requirement would initially be recommendatory for members belonging to senior citizen category and for those who are not in practice.
