NETWORKING major Cisco Systems on Wednesday said it would aggressively push its new technologies business in the Indian market and said at least 12-15 per cent of its revenues this year would come from these emerging technologies.

The company will focus aggressively on the wireless business which has now been delicensed, Mr Naresh Wadhwa, Vice-President , Cisco Systems India, said pointing out that Cisco already has over 90 per cent of the marketshare in this business globally.

Mr Wadhwa was speaking to reporters at the a joint announcement of a partnership with Cognizant Technology Solutions wherein the company has bagged a $400,000 contract to implement end-to-end network infrastructure at the latter's new Rs 30 crore campus at the Hinjewadi technology park, off Pune city.

Other focus areas in new technologies will be security solutions, e-learning and IP telephony, in which it plans to make a major foray by targeting enterprises and IT companies.

Cisco is now in talks with the company for implementing the same at the company's campuses, which are coming up in Kolkata and Chennai, he said. ``This project is a showcasing of our proven technology and has worked as a referral for at least two large contracts that we hope to tie up soon in Pune,'' Mr Wadhwa said.

Cognizant Technologies, meanwhile, told reporters it is likely to grow at least 15 per cent over last year's growth, largely on the back of overseas clients now preferring to outsource their mission critical systems to off-shore developers. The company, which is a leading e-business and applications outsourcer, will focus on growing its new technolgies business from which it expects al teast 30-40 per cent of its business this year, Mr Milind Padhye, Managihng Director and Vice-President CTS, India said.

``We are currently working on emerging technologies projects in areas like location specific services and enterprise applications engineering,'' Mr Padhye said.

Cognizant is all set to scale up operations at the Pune facility which is focussing largely on developing e-business systems for its clients. The Pune campus, which currently has 500 people will scale up to 1,000 within the next eighteen months for which recruitments are already on, Mr Padhye said.
