BANGALORE, June 18

THE Minister of State for Energy, Mr Veerkumar Patil, today said the Government has asked secretaries of the Energy and Law Departments to give their opinions on overcoming legal hurdles that have come in the way of giving effect to the power tariff hike.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Patil said certain legal hurdles have cropped up in implementing the proposed 16.2 per cent tariff hike after the recent creation of four new corporations for power distribution.

The proposed tariff hike has been cleared by the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission.
