KSRTC's eco-friendly initiative

Our Bureau

BANGALORE: Spot a polluting State transport bus and win Rs 100. That is the new eco-friendly initiative that the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has launched.

The catch is that the tests on the bus should prove it. KSRTC is also planting 25,000 saplings across the State to make a green statement. The corporation is also procuring engines that conform to Euro II norms.

KSRTC is also adding 1300 buses to its fleet this year, according to its MD, Mr K. Jairaj. About 600 buses will be additional and 700 will be replacements. 20 Volvo buses will also be inducted. This will make KSRTC the third largest fleet owner after Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, he said.
