Corporate CEOs

This refers to `Heroes with clay feet' (Business Line, June 10). The author has highlighted that, often, a CEO's so-called dynamism and charisma are mostly hype.

High-profile CEOs, who later prove to be ordinary mortals, with their own flaws and foibles, are, many a time, created by the media and so-called management gurus, who have to sing their praises for their own survival.

After all, management is nothing but common sense being put to use within a framework of corporate ethics for running the organisation. Only organisations that assiduously put ethics and shareholder interests first can survive in the long run. The sooner modern CEOs understand this, the more successful their organisations will be.
