MUMBAI, June 7 TATA Infotech Ltd has reported a 45 per cent decline in net profit, at Rs 6.92 crore (Rs 12.58 crore) for the quarter ended March 31, 2002. The company reported a 22.7 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 20.5 crore (Rs 26.54 crore) for the year ended March 31, 2002. The company reported a 17.4 per cent decline in net sales, at Rs 114.56 crore (Rs 138.82 crore) for the quarter. Net sales for the whole year fell 7.7 per cent, to Rs 475 crore from Rs 515 crore. Profit before tax declined 64 per cent, to Rs 12.06 crore from Rs 34.14 crore. The company said its revenue and profitability continued to be impacted in the second half of the year due to the greater than anticipated slowdown in its business, both domestic and overseas. In view of the interim dividend of Rs 4 per share announced in May for the year 2001-02, it had been decided not to recommend any final dividend, said a news release.
