Kerala: Factory Rules to be amended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government proposes to suitably amend the Factories Rules with a view to streamlining the functioning of the matches and explosives industry and ensure a safe workplace for the hundreds of workers they employ.

An official spokesman said that the Government has issued a notification stipulating a number of preventive measures that needs to be taken while handling chemicals, laying out the factory buildings and their safety systems.

Suggestions and complaints in this regard may be communicated to the Secretary, Department of Labour and Rehabilitation (B), Government Secretariat, Thiruvananthapuram, within the next three months.
