Natalia plans expansion

Our Bureau

CHENNAI, June 5

NATALIA, the premium womenswear brand, plans to more than double its adspend to Rs 50 lakh this year.

The advertising would back its retail expansion in over 30 outlets, both exclusive and multi-brand. The company also plans to open 80 outlets across the country in the next five years and carve out a 10 per cent market share of this nascent market.

Mr G. Shankaranarayanan, Vice-President, Natalia, said the total womenswear market, including the salwar kameez segment, was estimated to be in the range of Rs 1,200 crore. The entire market is highly fragmented and mainly in the unorganised sector.

The market for western womenswear is growing at the rate of 20 per cent per annum while it lacks the presence of a truly national brand in terms of volumes, presence and visibility. It is this gap that Natalia hopes to fill.
