Ford Assured set to redefine used car market

KOCHI, May 28

FORD Assured, the approved programme of Ford India for dealerships to buy, re-condition and sell used cars of different Indian makes, was launched on Tuesday.

The launch at Kochi will take the total number of Ford Assured outlets to 16 across the country, spanning 12 cities.

Encouraged by customer response and the success of the initiative, the company is in the process of expanding the service to Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Ghaziabad this year, according to Mr Partha Barua, General Manager, New Business Development.

He said that the used car business in India was largely disorganised as a majority of such cars were sold through brokers.

As per figures, 8-9 lakh used cars were sold in the country last year.

Ford Assured would continue to set benchmarks in the automobile industry and redefine practices that currently govern Indian used car markets, Mr Barua said.

"The company follows stringent guidelines for purchasing a used car to ensure high quality standards to the customer. Used cars must meet the scoring criteria under Ford Assured's unique vehicle inspection scoring parameters in order to be accepted."
