Textiles TN: FIR against textile mills for returns default Our Bureau
COIMBATORE, May 23 EIGHTEEN textile mills in Tamil Nadu including 12 run under merchant-manufacturers (on job work basis) have been proceeded against by the Ministry of Textiles for failing to submit returns on their production including fulfilment of their hank yarn obligation. The FIR has been filed against these units under the Textile (Development and Regulation ) Order 1993/2000 as these units, besides being `chronic defaulters' in filing the statutory returns, have also failed to inform the office of the Textile Commissioner the statutory `information memorandum' on the change in the management of these units, according to official sources. The regional office of the Textile Commissioner, which undertook a review on the statutory compliance of the textile mills in the three southern States, has found that 204 textile units out of an estimated 1,800 were defaulted in filing returns on production and fulfilment of hank yarn obligation. These include 189 textile units in Tamil Nadu, which came under the defaulters list and show-cause notices have been served against these units, according to Mr Nagesh Mugadur, Regional Director (Enforcement) of the Textile Commissioner's office here, which has jurisdiction over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka .
