NEW DELHI, May 1 CARRIER Aircon Ltd on Wednesday launched a new range of air conditioners aimed at raising its market share to about 30 per cent in the next two years. The Indian subsidiary of the inventor of air conditioning systems launched the P-Series high-wall split room air conditioners as well as some more window air conditioners `Optima', `Dyna', `Celesta' and `Silencia'. The P-series air conditioner will be in the price range of Rs 35,000-40,000 while the other air conditioners would be in the price range of Rs 17,500-Rs 25,000. Carrier, which has been losing market share to South Korea's LG Electronics in home air-conditioning systems, intends to increase its dealer network and retail availability to boost its market share, Mr G. Raghavan, President said. The US' Carrier holds 86 per cent equity of the Indian subsidiary. Last year the American parent had come out with an open offer to delist the company from the stock markets, but the open offer was not fully subscribed. Mr William Brown, Chairman, Asia Pacific Operations of Carrier International Corp., said at a press conference here that the US company has not decided on when to come out with a second open offer. "We have not set any deadline (for the second open offer),'' Mr Brown said. As part of its strategy to gain market share, Carrier plans to introduce the high-end air conditioners of Toshiba.
