Mecon completes JSPL blast furnace in record time

KOLKATA, May 1

THE consultancy major, Mecon Ltd, has achieved one more milestone by successfully commissioning the 351 cubic metre (m3) blast furnace of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd ( JSPL) within a record time of 16 months. The project has been executed at JSPL's plant at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh.

A Mecon press note said the design of the blast furnace is based on the latest technology fitted with stave cooling, cast house, hot blast stoves, gas cleaning system, blowers, slag granulation unit, conveyorised charging system, stock house with electronic weighing system and all other service facilities.

Moreover, PLC-based control & monitoring system has been provided for furnace charging and hot blast stoves. The advanced features of the blast furnace will help ensure high productivity and less energy consumption.
