Poultry Corporate - New Products & Services Chicken tray packs from Godrej Agrovet Our Bureau
PUNE, April 24 GODREJ Agrovet, a subsidiary of Godrej Industries Ltd and makers of `Real Good' brand of chicken, is gearing up to launch tray packs of a combination of chicken portion, legs and breast, cooled and processed with a shelf life of seventy two hours. The company is also hoping to venture into products as kebabs and patties, which would hit the market two years down the line, said Mr. B.S. Yadav, General Manager, Integrated Poultry Business Division of the company, during the launch of the chicken brand in Pune on Wednesday. The company was already selling two tonnes of tender chicken in the retail market and a similar amount in the institutional business since the launch, he claimed. ``We are already unable to meet the demand for the product and will step up capacities at our new Taloja plant by October this year.'' The Taloja plant has a capacity of processing 2000 birds per hour but is currently operating at only sixteen per cent capacity. The unit would step up production to fifty percent of plant capacity by October, Mr Yadav said. The Rs 700-crore company expects at least 40 per cent of its revenues during the current fiscal to come from the branded chicken business. The brand is currently available across 150 retail outlets in Mumbai and Pune.
