Sick Units Industry & Economy - Cement Government - Policy 7 non-operational Cement Corpn units to be closed Our Bureau
NEW DELHI, April 19 THE Union Cabinet has permitted Cement Corporation of India (CCI) to shut down its seven non-operational units. "The Cabinet on Thursday permitted CCI to take advance action to close seven non-operational units under the Industrial Disputes Act and offer benefits of VRS to its employees. The modalities for meeting the expenditure on VRS would be worked out by the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises," the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr Pramod Mahajan, told press persons here today. The seven units are Kurkunta Cement Plant in District Gulbarga, Karnataka; Nayagaon Cement Plant in District Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh; Akaltara Cement Plant in District Bilaspur, Chhatisgarh; Charkhi Dadri Cement plant in District Bhiwani, Haryana; Adilabad Cement Plant in District Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi Grinding Unit, Delhi.
