Kerala: Coir minimum export price issue

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Coir Samyuktha Samara Samithi has taken strong exception to the Centre's decision to scrap the minimum export price for coir.

Mr Anathalavattam Anandan, Convener of the Samithi, said in a statement that this has been done on the premise that the removal of restrictions would lead to increase of export and the revenue from them. But the experience of the last one year has been that both export and foreign exchange earnings have declined.

The representatives of the Central trade unions in the coir sector will meet in Thiruvananthapuram on April 12 to decide the course of action against the Centre's decision.
