Performance BHEL power unit profit up Our Bureau
CHENNAI, April 11 BHEL's power project construction unit (Power Sector-Southern Region) has achieved a turnover of Rs 347 crore in 2001-02, which is 9.5 per cent higher than the Rs 317-crore turnover achieved in the previous year, according to Mr N. Kamalanathan, General Manager. The unit has also made a profit-before-tax of Rs 52 crore, up 34 per cent from Rs 39 crore made in the previous year. He said that the unit had orders on hand worth Rs 628 crore, as of March 31, 2002. He said that orders worth Rs 257 crore were received by PSSR during 2001-02, which represented an increase of 133 per cent over the previous year. PSSR is actively engaged in adding six units of 500 MW in the southern region, which includes four units at Talcher (of NTPC), and one each at Simhadri and Ramagundam.
