Sify to merge consumer businesses

CHENNAI, April 10

SATYAM Infoway Ltd has announced that its consumer businesses are being merged into a single consumer business division starting May this year.

Mr Shrikant Joshi, designated Vice-President, Access Media, will be responsible for running and enhancing subscription revenues in the dial-up ISP business, the cybercafe business, fixed wireless broadband and other access media.

Mr V.V. Kannan, designated Vice-President, Interactive Services, will oversee all content, including various SIFY portals, e-commerce, brand marketing and earning revenues out of all online properties.

According to a statement the company released, the restructuring could soon result in the consumer accessing the Net through dial-up services, broadband or Sify's cybercafes, browse and communicate using voice and video conferencing, buy and pay for products or usage of sites and services, all using a single subscription account.

Interestingly, Mr Vivek Bali, President-portals, will move to work on a specific project on Associate Engagement in Sify and will report to Mr George Zacharias, who will run the new division in addition to being the President and Chief Operating Officer of the company, the release added.
