New Projects Utkal Asbestos plans capacity expansion Our Bureau
KOLKATA, April 8 UTKAL Asbestos Ltd plans to expand capacity for production of asbestos cement pressure pipes and sheets to 76,000 tonne per annum from the present 36,000 tpa at its plant in Medinipur district of West Bengal. The cost of the expansion project would be around Rs 17 crore, which would be operational soon, company sources said. The Medinipur plant near Kharagpur was set up in 1999. The company has another plant in Orissa, which was commissioned in the early eighties. Its capacity is 36,000 tpa. According to Mr K.P. Sinha, Vice-President of the company, the capacity expansion at the Medinipur plant is estimated to increase annual turnover by about Rs 25 crore.
