Marketfed for coconut procurement

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chairman of Kerala State Co-operative Marketing Federation Ltd (Marketfed), Mr Jose Kuttiyani, has urged the State Government to take steps for procurement of coconuts.

Speaking to newspersons, Mr Kuttiani said that the State had procured just 101 tonnes this year against the 88,000 tonnes last year.

Though the Centre has fixed a floor price for copra, farmers in the State are being deprived of the benefits as a result of the "wrong policies" adopted by the State Government, he added.
