Rubber Rubber exports touch 7000 t Our Correspondent
KOTTAYAM, April 8 ABOUT 7,000 tonnes of rubber has been exported by various agencies, including Rubco and Infam till March 31 this year, according to the Rubber Board Chairman, Mr S.M. Desalphine. More exports were in the pipeline with Rubbermark signing an agreement to export 20,000 tonnes of RSS-4 grade sheet rubber to Singapore. Of this, the first consignment of 2,000 tonnes had already been exported, Mr Desalphine said, addressing the Rubber Board meeting held at Kottayam. The exports are part of the proposal made by the Rubber Board to export rubber on a regular basis. In the past rubber export was contemplated only when its production was surplus. The total production during 2001-2002 was 6,34,000 tonnes and consumption 6,41,000 tonnes.
