Nabard sanction for TN irrigation projects

CHENNAI: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 50.49 crore under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund-VII (RIDF-VII) to assist six irrigation projects in Tamil Nadu.

According to a Nabard press release, the projects include two medium and four minor irrigation projects in Thiruvallur, Thiruvannamalai, Sivaganga, Madurai, Virudhunagar and Tuticorin districts. To be implemented by the Water Resources Organisation of the Public Works Department, the projects will bring under irrigation over 8,132 hectares of land and generate 8.96 lakh mandays of employment.
