Announcements Indica April production scaled down Our Bureau
MUMBAI, April 3 TATA Engineering's passenger car assembly plant, which manufactures the Indica, will operate to a lower production schedule in April due to ongoing preparations for launching the Tata Sedan, and thereafter, the car's Estate version. "Indica supplies, therefore, will see a temporary dip in April in line with this planned lower production. The plant is scheduled to resume full production in the third week of April and would be fully operational in May,'' an official statement said today. The lower volumes of April have been factored into the company's plans with greater step-up of sales in subsequent months. "It will not have any adverse impact on the overall annual Indica sales plan for 2002-2003,'' the statement said. According to it, the company's car plant at Pune is being upgraded and modified to create greater flexibilities and to handle variants of a common platform. There will be a higher level of robotisation in the weld lines and engine shop facilities will be enhanced.
