Announcements Hind Motors' LPG rural vehicle gets auto body okay Our Bureau
NEW DELHI, April 3 HINDUSTAN Motors Ltd has said it has received the approval of the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for an LPG-powered RTV (rural transport vehicle). The RTV is the first LPG vehicle in the country to get ARAI approval, the C.K. Birla-promoted Hindustan Motors said in a statement. The approvals are currently for passenger carrier, goods carrier and ambulance versions of RTV that has gained popularity as CNG-powered vehicle in the Capital. "Approval for the RTV's LPG variant will enable Hindustan Motors to expand its export market to countries where LPG is a viable fuel option," Mr B.K. Chaturvedi, Executive Director of the company, said. The vehicle will be available with 1817-cc petrol engine that develops 72 hp and can run about 400 km.
