Icrisat extends e-library facility

HYDERABAD, April 3

THE International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (Icrisat) here on Tuesday formally extended its e-library facility to all institutions of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

The library, according to Icrisat Director General, Dr William D. Dar, will facilitate direct access to bibliographies, abstracts and digital documents consolidated and developed by the institute for the semi-arid tropic regions. It has been developed over period of four years at a cost of $50,000.

Dr Dar said Icrisat had one of world's biggest gene banks with 1.13 lakh accessions. Of these, 44,000 accessions were originated from India.
