New Telugu pay channel soon

HYDERABAD, March 28
MAA TV, a new digital satellite Telugu channel of the Hyderabad-based Maa Television Network Ltd, is all set to go on air in a couple of weeks, according to its Executive Director, Mr D. Rajendra Prasad.
Promoted by Ms Kiranmayi Ramakrishna, wife of the late Ramakrishna of SITI Cable, Mr P. Muralikrishnam Raju, Ms T. Jyothirmayi and others, the channel offers a rich variety of fare that caters to different sections of people for 18 hours a day.
Started with an investment of Rs 25 crore, Maa TV is going to be a pay channel. Product concentration would be on events and family entertainment, Mr Prasad said.
He said the channel had uplinking facilities with VSNL besides tie-up with Discovery channel to beam its programmes for one hour every day. With nearly two crore viewers in the satellite and cable TV market in Andhra Pradesh, the advertisement potential was around Rs 200 crore and its projected growth rate was 25 per cent.
Scheduled for test transmission on March 31 and regular launch on April 10, Maa TV is projecting a turnover of Rs 22 crore in the first year of operations.
