Chicken prices may go up

G. Gurumurthy

COIMBATORE: THE Tamil Nadu broiler producers are bullish about their produce as the ensuing summer vacation and the onset of tourism season are expected to pep up chicken meat prices.

``We hope the chicken price will go up to Rs 34-35 per kg by May and June, thanks to the summer vacation when the demand for meat consumption will surge,'' said Mr B. Soundararajan, President, State Broiler Coordination Committee.

The broiler price recovered further this week with BCC revising the price this week to Rs 32 per kg from the earlier price of Rs 29.
