HYDERABAD, March 27

TWO independent non-executive directors have been inducted into the 9-member board of Agro Tech Foods Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the global food major ConAgra. The two directors have also been inducted into the company's new audit committee.

The President of Agro Tech, Mr Utpal Sen Gupta, told Business Line that the new directors, Mr Howard G. Buffet and Lt Gen D.B. Singh, would fill the vacancies caused by the resignations of Mr Thomas Manuel and Mr Hamish McBain. The latter have resigned from the company's board on March 25.

It is mandatory on the part of the company to have three independent directors on its board. In this regard, Mr Gupta said apart from the two new directors, the Commonwealth Development Corporation nominee, Mr N. Srinivasan, was also deemed to be an independent director on the company's board.

A businessman from Illinois, Mr Buffet is the President of the Howard G Buffet Foundation, Buffet Farms and BioImages, a photography and publishing company. He is a non-executive director on the board of ConAgra Foods and serves on the corporate boards of Berkshire Hathaway Inc, Coca-Cola Enterprises and Lindsay Manufacturing. On the other hand, Lt Gen.
