Infrastructure Industry & Economy - Petroleum Reliance, L&T in race for Petronet pipeline project Archana Chaudhary
MUMBAI, March 18 THE Reliance group, L&T and the Moscow-based Sun group of Khemkas (as part of a consortium of Russian companies) are in the final race for the EPC contract for Petronet's Central India pipeline project. The three companies which have pre-qualified for the price bids have to submit final bids before May 8. Petronet India Ltd (PIL) had called for the final bids on February 28 for the 1,760-km Central India pipeline project, which envisages transporting products from Jamnagar to Ratlam through Rajkot and Koyali. "We believe this is the first build-own-operate-transfer structure for a pipeline project to be undertaken anywhere in the world,'' said Mr K.K. Sinha, Managing Director, PIL. KPMG, consultants to the project, has drafted the build-own-operate-transfer tender for the Rs 2,000-crore project, Mr Sinha told Business Line. The company had called for global tenders for expression of interest in building the country's longest pipeline last year and had received bids from 13 parties of which only three have pre-qualified for the final price bid.
