Shourie leads team to development meet in Mexico

NEW DELHI, March 18

THE Union Minister for Disinvestment and North-East Development, Mr Arun Shourie, is leading a high-level Indian delegation to the five-day international conference on finance for development, which got under way on Monday in Monterrey, Mexico.

The Indian delegation comprises the Secretary, Economic Affairs, Mr C.M. Vasudev, India's permanent representative in the US, Mr Kamlesh Sharma, and senior officials from the Ministries of Finance and External Affairs.

Heads of States and Governments are taking part in the conference which will have in-depth discussions on development assistance, conditionalities attached to aid, proposal for re-scheduling of debt of several countries, particularly poorer countries, mobilisation of internal resources, issues concerning good governance and effective utilisation of external aid.
