THE VMA Oilseeds Research and Development Institute (VORDI) has estimated the country's total oilseeds production to have recovered marginally to 201 lakh tonnes (lt) during 2001-02, as against the previous year's dismal output of 173.95 lt.

Production of both kharif as well as rabi oilseeds at expected to be higher at 121.37 lt and 79.63 lt, respectively this year, compared to their corresponding 2000-01 levels of 109.44 lt and 64.51 lt, respectively.
